MarsCampers – Setting Up Your Hybrid Caravan (Quick Guide)

Getting your Mars hybrid caravan set up correctly ensures a safer, smoother and more enjoyable camping experience. Whether you're new to caravanning or just need a fast refresher, this quick guide covers the essential steps to get your hybrid camper levelled, secured and ready for adventure.

1. Choose a Suitable Site

  • Select firm, level ground where possible.
  • Avoid soft soil, steep slopes or areas prone to water pooling.

2. Position & Unhitch Safely

  • Slowly reverse into position, ensuring the drawbar is straight.
  • Engage the handbrake before unhitching.
  • Chock both wheels to prevent movement.

3. Level the Caravan

  • Level from side to side using levelling ramps.
  • Use the jockey wheel to level front to back.
  • A properly levelled van ensures correct appliance operation and sleeping comfort.

4. Stabilise Your Hybrid Caravan

  • Lower all stabiliser legs until firm contact is made with the ground.
  • Do NOT use stabilisers to raise the caravan — they are for stabilising only.

5. Connect Power & Utilities

  • Connect 240V mains power if available.
  • Switch your caravan’s power systems to the appropriate mode (solar, battery or mains).
  • Attach water hoses and confirm the pump is functioning correctly.

6. Set Up the Interior

  • Open windows, hatches and vents for airflow.
  • Turn on the fridge and allow cooling time.
  • Test lights, water pump and appliances.

7. Final Safety Check

  • Ensure gas bottles are turned off when not in use.
  • Store all loose items securely.
  • Check door and hatch latches before leaving the van unattended.

Your Mars hybrid caravan is designed for convenience, comfort and off-grid freedom. With this simple setup process, you'll be ready to relax and enjoy your campsite in minutes.
