Water Leaks: Immediate Steps + How to Help Us Diagnose Fast

If you discover a leak in your Mars caravan, the most important thing is to stop further water damage and gather the right info so our team can diagnose quickly.

This guide covers what to do immediately, what to check (safely), and what photos/videos to include in your ticket.

Step 1: Stop the water damage (do this first)

  1. Turn the water pump OFF at the control panel (or local switch if fitted).
  2. If you’re connected to any external water supply, turn it OFF and disconnect.
  3. Soak up water and protect cabinetry: towels, mats, and keep wet areas ventilated.
  4. If water is near electrical components, keep 12V/240V off in that area and log a ticket.

Step 2: Identify what type of leak it is

Most leaks fall into one of these categories:

  • Pressurised leak (pump-related): happens when pump is ON or when a tap is opened
  • Drain/waste leak: happens when draining sinks/shower
  • Ingress (rain/wash): appears after rain, washing, or driving in wet conditions

Helpful clue: If the leak stops when the pump is OFF, it’s likely a pressurised plumbing leak.

Step 3: Quick checks (safe, non-invasive)

  • Check under sinks, around taps, shower fittings, and visible hose connections.
  • Check if a specific tap/shower triggers the leak.
  • Check the floor/walls for wetness direction (where is it spreading from?).
  • If you can safely access it, check whether the pump cycles on/off when no taps are open (can indicate a leak).

Do not remove panels or attempt repairs you’re not comfortable with.

Urgent warning signs (stop and contact support)

  • Water near the 240V switchboard, inverter, charger, or electrical wiring
  • Smell of burning, buzzing sounds, or warm/hot wiring
  • Rapid flooding or water pouring from unknown source
  • Repeated pump cycling even with all taps closed

What to include in your support ticket (this speeds everything up)

  • Your model + year (and VIN/chassis number if available)
  • Is the leak fresh water (clean) or waste (sink/shower drain)?
  • Does it happen with the pump ON, when a tap is opened, or only when draining?
  • Photos: wide shot of area + close-up of suspected connection/fitting
  • Video: show pump OFF/ON, open the tap, show where water appears
  • Any recent changes: storage, travel, heavy corrugations, repairs, or modifications
