The AU Focus diesel heater is designed to keep your van warm and comfortable in colder conditions. It uses diesel as the fuel source and 12V power to run the electronics, fan and start-up process.
Before You Start
Make sure there is enough diesel in the heater tank.
Make sure your battery has good charge, as the heater needs 12V power to start and run correctly.
Check that the hot air outlet is not blocked.
Make sure the external exhaust area is clear and unobstructed.
How to Start the Heater
Turn the heater on using the controller.
Select your desired temperature or heat setting.
Allow the heater a few minutes to complete its start-up cycle.
It is normal for the heater to take a little time before warm air begins flowing. During start-up, the unit is igniting internally and bringing itself up to operating temperature.
How It Works
The heater burns diesel in a sealed chamber and uses that heat to warm clean air that is blown into the van. This means the air inside your van is heated separately from the combustion process.
Adjusting the Temperature
Once running, use the controller to increase or decrease the heat output or set your preferred temperature, depending on the controller fitted to your van. The heater will then work to maintain that setting.
Shutting the Heater Down
When you are finished using the heater, turn it off at the controller only.
Important: Do not shut the heater down by isolating power at the battery or master switch. The heater needs to complete its cool-down cycle properly before power is removed.
When switched off correctly, the fan may continue running for a few minutes. This is normal and helps cool the unit down safely.
Important Operating Notes
Use diesel only.
Do not block the hot air outlet.
Do not store loose items against the heater or ducting.
Always allow the heater to complete its full shut-down cycle.
If the heater has not been used for a while, it may take a little longer on first start.
If the Heater Does Not Start
Check there is diesel in the tank.
Check battery voltage is sufficient.
Check the unit has been turned on correctly at the controller.
If needed, refer to the fault code shown on the controller.
If the issue continues, contact Mars Campers or AU Focus support for further assistance.
Quick Tip
For the best experience, start the heater a little before bed or before the temperature drops too far. It is much easier to maintain warmth than to heat the van from very cold.
