Dometic CVI1525 Induction Cooktop — How to Use, Safety, Cleaning & Troubleshooting

The Dometic CVI1525 is a 2-zone induction cooktop commonly fitted in caravans and RVs. It delivers fast, controllable cooking while being well suited to typical campsite power limits, and includes safety features like a timer, over-temperature protection, unsuitable object protection, and automatic shut-down.

Quick Specs (CVI1525)

  • Cooking zones: 2 zones (induction)
  • Power settings: 9 temperature/power settings
  • Power draw: Left zone up to 1000 W; right zone up to 1300 W (with a Boost mode on the right zone)
  • Overall size: 525 (W) × 350 (D) × 55 (H) mm
  • Cut-out: 505 × 330 mm (bench thickness 10–40 mm)

Before You Start

1) Use the right cookware (this matters with induction)

  • Only use cookware that’s induction compatible. A simple magnet test can confirm suitability.
  • Avoid cookware made of pure stainless steel, aluminium or copper without a magnetic base (also avoid glass/wood/porcelain/ceramic/earthenware).
  • Don’t use cookware with jagged edges or a curved base (it can damage the glass).

2) Power tips for caravans & campsites

  • Induction cooktops can draw serious power at high settings (and Boost draws more). If you’re on a limited supply, avoid running multiple high-draw appliances at the same time.
  • The cooktop has an automatic shut-down timer based on power level (a safety feature if left on).

How to Use the Dometic CVI1525 (Step-by-step)

1) Turn the cooktop on

  1. Tap the ON/OFF button to power up the cooktop.
  2. Place a suitable induction pot/pan on the zone you want to use.

2) Select a cooking zone (CVI1525 has two)

  1. Tap the cooking zone selection button for the zone you want (left or right).
  2. If cookware isn’t detected or is unsuitable, the cooktop may show a warning indicator and switch off after a short period.

3) Set heat/power level (1–9)

  1. Use the + / buttons to set your power level from 1 to 9.
  2. As a rough guide:
    • 5–6: pancakes / gentle warming & reheating
    • 7–8: sautéing / cooking pasta
    • 9: stir-frying / searing / boiling water

4) Use BOOST (right zone only)

BOOST temporarily increases heating for up to 5 minutes. On the CVI1525, BOOST works on the right cooking zone only.

  1. Set the right zone to the maximum power level.
  2. Select the right zone, then tap the BOOST button.
  3. To cancel BOOST early, select the zone and tap BOOST again.

5) Set the timer (0–99 minutes)

The timer can switch a zone off automatically and can be set from 0 to 99 minutes.

  1. Select the cooking zone you want to time, then tap the timer button.
  2. Adjust time using + / (tap for 1-minute steps, hold for 10-minute changes).
  3. When the timer ends, the zone switches off and the display remains active until the zone cools.

6) Turn a zone off & residual heat indicator

  1. Turn a zone off by reducing its power level down until it shows off.
  2. A residual heat indicator remains displayed while a cooking zone is still hot.
  3. Tap ON/OFF to switch the whole cooktop off.

7) Lock the controls (handy around kids)

Use the Lock button to disable touch controls (except ON/OFF and unlock), then press/hold to unlock.

Safety Notes (Worth Reading)

  • Don’t store items on the cooking surface.
  • Be mindful of automatic shut-down times: at low levels it can run longer, but higher power levels shut down sooner if left unattended.
  • The unit includes protective features such as over-temperature protection, unsuitable object protection, and an automatic shut-down timer.

Cleaning & Care

  • Use standard commercial cleaning agents.
  • Do not use a high-pressure jet or steam cleaner.
  • The cooktop should be inspected once a year by qualified personnel.

Troubleshooting (Common Issues)

Cooktop won’t heat / cookware warning

  • Confirm your pot/pan is induction suitable (magnet test).
  • Make sure cookware is centred and large enough for the zone.

Unit shuts down unexpectedly

  • This can be normal if the automatic shut-down time for that power level has been reached.
  • If it’s overheating, let it cool and try again.

If faults persist, refer to the error-code section in the Dometic manual or contact your service agent.
