Kooltron NCC-95 (95L Dual Zone) – Quick How-To Guide
The Kooltron NCC-95 is a 95L dual-zone portable fridge/freezer with independently controlled compartments, a digital control panel, internal LED light, and optional Bluetooth app control. This guide covers the everyday basics: powering it, setting temps, battery protection, cleaning, and simple troubleshooting.
Quick Highlights
- Dual-zone: Set each compartment to its own temperature.
- Cooling range: Down to -18°C (freezer temps).
- Power: 12/24V DC or 240V AC with auto change-over (model dependent).
- Extras: Two-way opening lid, open-door alarm, internal LED light, Bluetooth app control.
- Insulation: Ultra insulated (50mm cabinet).
Before You Start (Do This for Best Performance)
- Ventilation is critical: keep vents clear so warm air can escape.
- Keep it out of direct heat: avoid placing it beside hot water pipes, heaters, ovens, or in blazing sun.
- Pre-chill when possible: it will cool faster and use less power.
- Keep it level-ish: avoid operating on steep angles for long periods.
How To Use (Step-by-Step)
1) Connect power
- 12/24V (DC): Connect to a suitable 12V/24V outlet using the supplied DC lead.
- 240V (AC): Connect the supplied AC lead to mains power (powered site / home).
If your setup allows both 12V and 240V to be connected at the same time, it will run on AC power and automatically change over to DC if AC fails.
2) Turn the fridge ON/OFF
Press and hold the POWER button for about 3 seconds to turn the unit ON. Repeat to turn it OFF.
3) Set temperatures (Dual Zone)
- Select Zone 1: Press MODE once (Zone 1 setting flashes).
- Use UP / DOWN to set the temperature.
- Select Zone 2: Press MODE twice (Zone 2 setting flashes).
- Use UP / DOWN to set the temperature.
- After a few seconds, the display stops flashing and returns to showing the current (actual) temperature.
Easy starting points: Fridge side 2–4°C • Freezer side -12 to -18°C.
4) Battery protection / low-voltage cut-out
Many Kooltron fridges include a low-voltage cut-out to help protect your battery system. Choose a higher cut-out when running from a starter battery (more protection) and a lower cut-out when running a dedicated house battery (longer run time).
- Press MODE three times until the battery setting flashes.
- Use UP / DOWN to select the battery protection setting.
- Wait a few seconds to save.
5) Compressor speed (if you want faster cooling vs battery saving)
- Press MODE four times until the compressor speed setting flashes.
- Use UP / DOWN to select the speed.
- Wait a few seconds to save.
Tip: Use faster cooling when you’ve just loaded warm items or when the weather is hot. Use a lower speed to save power once temps are stable.
6) Screen brightness (dimming)
Press and hold MODE, then press UP to cycle through brightness levels.
7) Bluetooth app control (optional)
- Download the Kooltron app (search “Portable Fridge” in the App Store / Google Play).
- Power the fridge, open the app, and search for your fridge.
- Once connected, you can view settings and adjust temperatures from your phone.
Note: Bluetooth range and connection reliability vary; keep your phone reasonably close to the fridge for setup.
Best-Practice Tips
- Don’t block vents (warm air must escape).
- Limit lid openings (every open = warm air rushes in).
- Cool food first if you can (less load on the compressor).
- Use baskets/organisation so air can circulate and items don’t crush the seal.
- Disconnect when not in use (some units draw a small idle current when connected).
Defrosting, Cleaning & Storage
Defrosting
- Turn the unit OFF and disconnect power.
- Remove contents and leave the lid open to defrost.
- Never use hard/sharp tools to remove ice (you can damage the cooling panel).
- Wipe moisture dry before restarting.
Cleaning
- Clean with a soft cloth and lukewarm water, then dry with a dry cloth.
- Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, brushes, or harsh tools.
- Clean around vents regularly to maintain airflow.
Storage
- Store the fridge clean and dry.
- Leave the lid slightly open to reduce mould/odours.
Quick Troubleshooting
Not cooling well
- Check the fridge has good ventilation and isn’t in direct heat.
- Confirm both zones are set correctly and the lid seals are clean.
- If power supply is weak, increase battery protection (or move to 240V / a better 12V source).
Low-voltage cut-out triggered
- Charge your battery and/or switch the fridge to a higher-quality power source.
- Adjust the battery protection setting to suit your battery type and setup.
